State Tax Exemption

Governor Hogan's Proposed Legislation

Sample for State Senator and State Delegate(s).

In the 2018 Legislative Session, both houses passed a $15,000 tax exemption bill for all age 55 and over for all members of the Uniform Services and their surviving spouses. Efforts were once again made this session to raise or eliminate the maximum dollars subject to state tax. The proposed bills were not completed during the 2020 shortened session but may be considered in late May and will certainly be introduced next year!   Please note the legislation proposed by Governor Hogan in the document to the right.

YOUR EMAILS ARE NEEDED and REQUESTED NOW!

We all need to reach out to your state representatives NOW, as there is a chance for a Special Session, tentatively scheduled for late May.  EVEN if the Special Session does not occur, we need a headstart for next year.

A sample email to your State Senator and Representatives can be found on the right side of this page.

You can locate your state representatives by keying into http://www.mgaleg.maryland.gov or going to our page "What You can Do"

  • Under “Members”, go to Find My Representative,
  • then go to :”Look Up.” and
  • Key in your address and zipcode.
  • Click on the "Find" button

Two bills were passed that can enable local jurisdictions to waive part of the property tax under certain circumstances.
