The 2025 Legislative Session ended with few of our objectives surviving.  Our approach for 2026 shoud consider these as some of out priorities:

• Prohibiting companies from charging Veterans for assistance with disability claims .
•  Eliminating the age restriction for military retired pay subtraction. 
•  Expeditated licensure and certification for uniformed service members and their spouses and retirees rather than compacts UNLESS DoD agrees to treat all uniformed services equally. 
•  Increased availability of affordable child care for service families.
•  Advanced enrollment procedures for dependent children of uniformed service members (the bills (HB 596 and SB 601) passed, however, neither bill made it through review in the original chamber). 

The 2026 Maryland General Assembly session will begin on January 13th. Information on this page will be updated as the session progresses.

We should continue to reach out to our House and Senate State Representatives to encourage the elimination of any age differences in the amount of tax emptions as well as eventually phasing out the taxation of Uniform Services retirement income.
