Robert Dudley was born and raised in Southern California, part of the baby boomer generation. He has lived in various parts of America and travelled widely across the country like a modern-day John Steinbeck. In an even greater burst of wanderlust, at one point he lived abroad for 7 years. He spent nearly a year traveling in Israel. Next, while living in Europe he traveled extensively to over 20 countries during the time of the fall of the Berlin wall and the collapse of the former Soviet Union.  He is passionate about travel, history, current events and global trends. Two of his most inspirational writers are James Michener and David McCullough.

After decades of varied life experiences, Robert is now a full-time writer. He loves research and a wide range of reading. He has written a screenplay on Francis Scott Key. He has also recently co-authored a book on the life of Sam Smith, the hero of the Defense of Baltimore during the War of 1812 as well as the recent Lessons in Leadership from the War of 1812. He participates in leadership training in the Baltimore area and offers Author's Battle of Baltimore Tours along with his co-author, Dr. Marc DeSimone. He has offered numerous presentations on Sam Smith and Francis Scott Key to a variety of organizations in the region.
