Maryland Council of MOAA Chapters
The Maryland Council of Chapters, comprises ten chapters - Annapolis, Ft Meade, Star Spangled Banner (Baltimore), General Smallwood, Montgomery County, Prince Georges County, Southern Maryland, Susquehanna, Upper Eastern Shore, and Upper Potomac.
The Maryland Council takes the lead on issues in the state legislature that are of interest to all the chapters. The council also joins with other statewide veterans organizations for the interests of all veterans in shaping state policies.
Significant efforts have been focused on obtaining jobs for retirees/veterans transitioning to civilian status and encouraging service retirees to locate in Maryland by means of state income tax reduction on military pensions.
The Council has started a very newsy monthly newsletter for those transitioning from active duty. Please sign up for it at http://eepurl.com/g6Swtj so that you receive monthly transition news. The more people on the list, the further and faster the information will go.
The Council was awarded Five-Star Level of Excellence awards for 2014 and 2016.
